This type was struck at San Luis Potosí 1831-63, with assayer MC listed for 1849-59. This specimen was lot 8163 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $862.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Potosi. 1/2 Real, 1852-PiMC. NGC MS-66." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The San Luis Potosi mint struck half reales 1831, 1841-63 and most are scarcer than the SCWC indicates. The SCWC lists this date as common.
