This specimen was lot 73238 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $341.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1852-Go PF. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-55. Finest and only numerically graded of three examples by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Guanajuato is tied with Zacatecas as the commonest mint. Shown is an 1852-Go PF four reales, one of a type struck at the Guanajuato mint 1835-70. Assayer PF is recorded for 1849-61. The SCWC cites a scarce overdate, 1852/42.
