Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 72420

This specimen was lot 72420 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $109. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1852/1/0-Pi MC. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC Unc Details--Obverse Stained. Interesting double overdate. Only example graded by NGC. Roller marks on cap. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. One reales were struck at San Luis Potosí in 1831 and 1837-62. Assayer MC stamped this denomination 1850-58. This triple date is awarded a slight premium over the regular date.
