This specimen was lot 30392 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $3,332.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba, Republic gold Proof "Alcala Gate" 100 Pesos 1991 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. Featuring the Puerta de Alcala in Madrid. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." The year 1991 saw the release of many NCLT's by the regime featuring the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of America. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare. The gate shown here was inaugurated in 1778 by king Charles III.
