This specimen was lot 30399 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Cuba, Republic gold Proof "Guama" 100 Pesos 1992 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. Essentially unhandled since minting. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." The year 1992 saw the release of many NCLT's by the regime featuring the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of America. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare. Chief Guama was another Indian who died resisting the Spanish conquistadores.
