This specimen was lot 32128 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $10,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba: Republic gold Proof "Kings of Spain" 500 Pesos ND (1992) PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Havana mint. "With star" variety. Struck as part of the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's discovery of Cuba, this massive modern rarity is offered here in near-flawless preservation, with none having been awarded technical perfection at NGC out of just 3 graded. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." The year 1992 saw the release of many NCLT's by the regime featuring the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of America. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare. This design was also used on a 100 pesos of 1992 (Fr-73).
