This specimen was lot 30403 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba, Republic gold Proof "Tower of Gold - Seville" 100 Pesos 1992 PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC. Struck in commemoration of the "Torre del Oro" in Seville. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." The year 1992 saw the release of many NCLT's by the regime featuring the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of America. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare. The Torre del Oro lies on the waterfront in Seville, where it was used as a watchtower against pirate raids.
