Ponterio sale 155, lot 6372

This specimen was lot 6372 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $172.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Hermosillo. 8 Reales, 1888-FG. Nice strike, dipped. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Hermosillo mint struck eight reales 1861-95 and most of the dates from 1874 on are fairly common. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: 364,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
