Mexico 1888Zs 10 pesos rev Stacks 110-1418.jpg

This specimen was lot 1418 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. 10 Pesos, 1888/7 Zs Z. Zacatecas. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. Rv. Cap and Rays above scales of Justice, dagger, and scroll of laws. The date appears to be an 8/7 but this is not listed, perhaps even a different underdigit. Scattered circulation marks are found in lightly cleaned fields. About Uncirculated."

Recorded mintage: 4,810.

Specification: 16.92 g, 0.875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 413.9, Fr-138.
