Sincona sale 95, lot 4670

This specimen was lot 4670 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$485 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1726, Zürich. Nach links schreitender Löwe mit Schwert und Stadtwappen auf Grasboden (Stempel der Periode von 1722-1725 für die Taler mit Stadtansicht). Rv. Spruch mit Jahreszahl in Kartusche. Randschrift. Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1726, Zürich mint. Obverse: lion left with sword and arms on grass mound (obverse die from the city view thaler of 1722-25); reverse: motto with date in cartouche; lettered edge. Very rare, About Extremely Fine, Flan flaw on edge.)"

This type was struck 1724-27, 1730-34 and is rather scarce.
