Sincona sale 98, lot 4659

This specimen was lot 4659 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$508 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Vierteldukat 1725, Zürich. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Gewellt. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, quarter ducat of 1725, Zürich mint. Rare, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Wavy flan.)"

This quarter ducat was struck 1718-36, 1739-48, 1751-53, 1756-61 and 1767. It is the most common issue of this denomination from Zürich.

Specifications: 0.87 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 0.82 g.
