Sincona sale 102, lot 5655

This specimen was lot 5655 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,281 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton. Taler 1725, Zürich. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1725, Zürich mint. Very rare date, Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1724-27, 1730-34 and is rather scarce. City view thalers (Dav-1785) were also struck in 1725. They are about equally common but the city view obtains a premium for the more interesting design.
