Sincona sale 70, lot 3671

This specimen was lot 3671 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,238 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton. Halbdukat 1724, Zürich. Selten. Vorzüglich. Leicht gewellt. (Switzerland, canton of Zurich, half ducat of 1724, Zurich mint. Rare, Extremely fine, Slightly wavy flan.)"

This type was struck without change 1718-67 yet remains scarce. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.

Specification: 1.75 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 1.64 g.
