Sincona sale 83, lot 5117

This specimen was lot 5117 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,004 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND Zurich. 20 Schilling (Halbgulden) 1723, Zürich. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC. (canton of Zurich, twenty schilling or half gulden of 1723, Zurish mint. Very rare in this condition, About uncirculated)." This type was struck 1718-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-58, 1761, 1767-68. Like many Swiss minors, it has a low catalog value. One thaler = 72 schillinge.
