Sincona sale 70, lot 3670

This specimen was lot 3670 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,843 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton. Vierteldukat 1721 (über 20), Zürich. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. PCGS MS63. (Switzerland, canton of Zurich, quarter ducat of 1721/20, Zurich mint. Very rare in this condition, choice uncirculated.)"

This type was struck without change 1718-67 yet remains scarce. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
