This specimen was lot 31573 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. City gold 1/2 Ducat 1725/24 MS63 Prooflike NGC. Perfectly sharp in the centers with mesmerizing, glass-like sheen in the prooflike fields. The single finest graded example of the date at either NGC or PCGS. Although not mentioned on the NGC holder, this date is classified as always being a 25/24 overdate in the HMZ catalog. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." This type was struck without change 1718-67 yet remains scarce. The earlier type of 1712-16 has the same Friedberg number but has a distinctly different reverse.
