Zurich 1725 1/2 thaler KM-146
This specimen was lot 5656 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$754 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton. Halbtaler 1725, Zürich. Zainende. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half thaler of 1725, Zürich mint. Edge clip, Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1720-26, 1729, 1732-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-53, 1756-61 and 1767-68. Half thalers with a motto reverse (KM 145) were struck 1723-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-61, 1767-68, so most years have both types. They are about equally common but the city view obtains a premium for the more interesting design.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14 g, silver, this specimen 13.66 g.
