Sincona sale 91, lot 3666

This specimen was lot 3666 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,586 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Schilling (Halbgulden) 1721, Zürich. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, twenty schilling or half gulden of 1721, Zürich mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1718-45, 1748, 1751-53, 1756-58, 1761, 1767-68. It was equal to half a gulden or one quarter of a convention thaler.

Specification: 7.57 g, silver, 30 mm diameter, this specimen 8.58 g.
