Zurich 1720 20 schilling
This specimen was lot 5649 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$754 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton. 20 Schilling (Halbgulden) 1720, Zürich. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, twenty schilling or half ducat of 1720, Zürich mint. Rare in this condition, About Uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1718-45, 1748, 1751-53, 1756-58, 1761, 1767-68. It was equal to half a gulden or one quarter of a convention thaler. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
