This specimen was lot 11107 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,998. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. War of Independence Nueva Vizcaya. 8 Reales, (18)11-RM. Crudely made, unevenly struck. VERY GOOD." This is a rare local issue from the early stages of the War of Independence. Later the mint was reorganized as the Durango mint and struck coins more closely resembling regular issues (KM 110.1).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 27.07 grams, 0.896 fine silver, .780 troy oz ASW.
