This specimen was lot 70217 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Supreme National Congress. War of Independence. 1/2 Real, 1811. Ferdinand VII. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details. A rather RARE fractional issue struck in copper from the earliest date of the type. While its surfaces are somewhat rough, the coin displays a clear date along with other parts of the outer legends. Despite its drawbacks, this piece serves as a suitable exemplar of a difficult type that is missing from most collections." This type known for 1811-14 along with one, two, four and eight reales, all scarce. The Supreme National Congress was one of many juntas which attempted to unite and control the rebel forces.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.
