The first specimen was lot 265 in Aureo y Calicó sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 302 € (about US$469 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Fernando VII (1808-1833). 1811. México. HJ. 1 real. (Cal. 1165). Busto imaginario. Muy bella. Precioso color. Rara así. S/C-. (Ferdinand VII, 1808-33, half real of 1811, Mexico City mint, imaginary bust. Very handsome, nice toning, scarce thus, about uncirculated)."

Assayers TH and HJ are known for this date, with TH being the rarer. The "imaginary bust" type was struck in Mexico City 1809-14, after which the standard bust of Ferdinand VII was adopted.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, .903 silver, .098 troy oz ASW.
