Stack's Bowers 2019 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72539

This specimen was lot 72539 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $110. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1863-Pi RO. San Luis Potosí Mint. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Only a light degree of gentle wear prevent a Mint State designation for this wholly argent piece with some hints of luster peeking through. From the Sonoran Sunset Collection." The San Luis Potosí mint struck eight reales 1827-93. This date is fairly common tho overdates and overassayers exist.
