This specimen was lot 71360 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $31,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Silver 10 Centavos "Pattern", 1863-Mo. Mexico City Mint. Cap and Rays Type. NGC MS-66. Only graded by NGC. Very rare pattern and almost surely the finest known. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors. Ex: Pablo Gerber Collection." This cap-and-rays design was used for production 1867-69 at Mexico City and San Luis Potosi after the French had been expelled. Other early efforts, such as this product of Chihuahua (KM 401.1), used a value reverse, correctly assuming that the cap-and-rays ten centavos would be confused with the one real. A similar five centavos pattern exists (KM Pn94).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-Pn95.
