Mexico 1863-Ce ML 8 reales

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This specimen was struck at the Real de Catorce mint in the 1860's. It is recorded that the mint operated until 1869 but all known specimens of its products, silver two, four and eight reales, are dated the year of its inauguration, 1863. Of the fourteen mints which struck silver pesos, only Estado de Mexico is scarcer.
