Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 39220

This specimen was lot 39220 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1855/4-GaJG. Gaudalajara Mint. NGC AU-55." The 1855-GA is the most common date from Guadalajara n the 1850's but is scarce compared to the isseus of the 1890's. The mint, which opened in 1813 during the War of Independence, closed in 1895. The overdate is awarded a moderate premium in the SCWC.
