This specimen was part of lot 73139 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $512.40. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Sextet of 2 Reales (6 Pieces), 1833-55. Mexico City Mint. Grade Range: FINE to VERY FINE. All: KM-374.10. 1) 1833/2-Mo MJ. 2) 1836-Mo MF. 3) 1848-Mo GC. 4) 1849-Mo GC. 5) 1852-Mo GC. 6) 1855-Mo GC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The Mexico City mint struck two reales 1825-37, 1840-42, 1847-63, 1867-69. Assayer GC (1848-55) and assayer GF (1855-57) both stamped two reales in 1855. The SCWC does not award a premium to either or the 1855-GF/GC variety.
