This specimen was lot 73091 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $488. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1855-Go PF. Guanajuato Mint. NGC EF Details--Cleaned. Variety with star in mintmark. Interesting variety and one year mint mark type. Second finest of two graded by NGC with best graded EF-40. Well struck with considerable luster. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The Guanajuato mint struck two reales 1825-68 and most dates are common. Assayer PF is recorded for 1848-68. The star in the "G" is noted in the SCWC but awarded no premium.
