This specimen was lot 34485 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico: Republic 4 Reales 1855 Mo-GF/GC MS63 NGC, Mexico City mint. Deep stormy shades of charcoal and russet tones. Weakly struck centers." Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Guanajuato is tied with Zacatecas as the commonest mint. Mexico City struck four reales 1827, 1850-56, 1859-63, 1867-68 and a number of the dates are rare. The 1855-GF/GC is common, the 1855-GF is scarce. No date is common in high grade.
