Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 73071

This specimen was lot 73071 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $4,392. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1851/0-GC MP. Guadalupe y Calvo Mint. NGC AU-55. Scarce mint and rare overdate. Only example graded by NGC. Lustrous with medium dark toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The SCWC lists only 1844-47 and 1849-50 for this mint. The Guadalupe y Calvo mint closed in 1852 and issues for 1851 include a half real, an eight reales, half escudo, one escudo and eight escudos.

Recorded mintage: unknown but extremely rare.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.
