Mexico 1851-Go PF 8 escudos

The Guanajuato mint struck eight escudos 1825-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common. This specimen was lot 40271 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1851-GoPF. PCGS EF-45."

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
