Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 57250

This specimen was lot 57250 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1851-C CE. Culiacan Mint. PCGS MS-63." This specimen was struck at the Culiacan mint in 1851. The issues of Culiacan are known for 1846-57, 1860-61 and 1869; only the 1861 is common. Most silver minors of Mexico are very rare in this quality.
