This specimen was struck at the Estado de Mexico mint in 1828. This mint struck silver and gold coins 1828-30, with one reals known for 1828 only. The issues of Estado de Mexico are the rarest one reals, with the Chihuahua mint being a near second. The second specimen was lot 72304 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $5,368. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1828-EoMo LF. Estado de Mexico Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Rare one year mint. Tied with one other for highest graded by NGC. Rare condition for this date. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors."
