The first specimen was lot 11270 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,035. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1828-EoMo LF. One year only issue. Attractive toning. VERY FINE." The second specimen was lot 343 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £400 (about US$620 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted, "Republic, 2 reales, Estado de Mexico mint, 1828 LF, slightly buckled and with a couple of bumps and scratches, very good, rare." This is by far the rarest mint for two reales.
Specification: 6.76 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.
