This specimen was lot 41106 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1828-Go MJ. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-55. "2/1 R" variety. A SCARCE variety with the denomination reversed with 2/1. Early types of these minors are seldom encountered in any problem free state, however in near-Mint State, they are nearly impossible." This type was struck at the Guanajuato mint in 1828, one of a type struck there 1826-68. Assayer MJ is listed for 1826-33. Most Guanajuato issues are common.
