Stack's Bowers 2025 ANA sale, lot 43392

This specimen was lot 43392 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Franc, Year 13-W (1804/5). Lille Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS AU-50. Deeply toned and with only light wear across the high points, this near-Mint minor stands as a charmingly wholesome representative of the type. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Joe Elliott at Seattle ANA on 22 August 1990 for $135)." This type was struck years 12-14 of which the An 13-A is by far the most common date. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Recorded mintage: 16,806, a scarce date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, decorated edge.
