This issue, from the Paris mint, is a common issue of a type struck AN 12-14. A complete set of this type comprises 39 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed. An overdate, 13/2, is shown on the second specimen. The second specimen was lot 99244 in Heritage sale 61259 (Dallas, TX, February 2022), where it sold for $744. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Napoleon Franc L'An 13/2 (1804/1805)-A AU55 NGC, Paris mint. Not a type that is often found as an overdate, with a great clarity to the strike and the general absence of serious wear suggesting that a finer grade may be left wanting."

Specification: 23 mm diameter, 5 grams, 0.900 fine silver, decorated edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.

Recorded Mintage: 2,452,806.

Catalog reference: F.201/14, KM 656.1, Gad-443.
