France AN13-M 1/2 franc
This specimen was lot 34184 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Demi-Franc (1/2 Franc), Year 13-M (1804/5). Toulouse Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS MS-62. The finer of just two observed in the PCGS census (the other merely grading AU-55), this nearly-Choice minor presents a light degree of golden-olive toning around the devices and a great deal of dazzling brilliance abounding throughout. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Patrick Drouot in 1979 for $200). Ex: Galerie Numismatique Drouot 10 (5/1979) Lot # 729." This dime-sized coin was struck at Toulouse under the régime of Napoleon soon after he made himself emperor of France. The type was struck AN12-14 only and is rather scarce. It was demonetized in 1869.
