Stack's Bowers 2025 ANA sale, lot 43378

This specimen was lot 43378 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. 2 Francs, Year 13-M (1804/5). Toulouse Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS EF-40. This mildly circulated minor presents some deep iridescent toning and a hint of doubling noted around the emperor's facial features. For completeness, a few adjustment marks are observed upon the reverse. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Lepczyk in 1984 for $50). Ex: George Sobin Collection (Joseph Lepczyk - 3/1984) Lot # 1229 (part of)." This type was struck years 12-14 and the Paris mint, tho the most available mintmark, is not common. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Recorded mintage: 333,797, common for a branch mint.

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, lettered edge.
