SB825-43410r.jpg

This specimen was lot 43410 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Quart de Franc (1/4 Franc), Year 13-MA (1804/5). Marseille Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS AU-53. Though somewhat mottled in color, this near-Mint specimen remains without much in the way of actual handling and stands as the sole representative of the type in the PCGS census. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Émile Bourgey in Paris on 3 February 1996 for $199)." This type was struck years 12-14 and the Paris mint product is moderately common. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Recorded mintage: 8,102, a very scarce date.

Specification: 1.25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, decorated edge.

Catalog reference: KM-654.9; Gad-346; F.158/15.
