This specimen was lot 71009 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Kingdom. Ecu de Bearn, 1791. Pau Mint; mm: Cow. Louis XVI. PCGS VF-25. The EXTREMELY RARE final year for the type, this specimen exhibits the smallest mintage figure for the series and remains charmingly without issue. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Lepczyk in March 1977 for $300). Ex: George Sobin Collection (Joseph Lepczyk - 3/1977) Lot # 1328." The Pau mint struck this type 1775-91. Many dates are common but the 1789, 1790 and 1791 are rare. The mint closed in 1793, during the Revolution.

Recorded mintage: 1,690, a rare date.

Specification: 29.49 g, 0.917 fine silver, 39-40 mm diameter, lettered edge, designed by Benjamin Duvivier.
