This specimen was lot 43031 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Kingdom. 1/2 Ecu, 1791-T. Nantes Mint. Louis XIV. PCGS MS-62. The sole representative of the type in the PCGS census, this nearly-Choice minor offers an enticing cabinet nature along with appealing brilliance radiating from the protected areas. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Bourgey in 1958 for FF 4,000). Ex: Émile Bourgey FPL XI (11/1958) Lot # 409." The half écus of Louis XVI are common but all of the dates of this mint (1775-90) are scarce to rare.

Recorded mintage: 4,216, a rare date.

Specification: 14.74 g, 0.917 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, edge lettered DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM, designed by Benjamin Duvivier.
