This specimen was lot 43175 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE. Constitution. Caisse de Bonne Foi. Bronze 3 Sols Token Essai (Pattern), Year III (1791). Paris Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Brown. Plain edge. By J.-L. Thévenon. Though not necessarily a difficult type to encounter, this token issue presents a level of quality that is no doubt RARELY seen, presenting a crisp strike, rich red-brown surfaces, and majestic luster abounding throughout. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from the Farouk Collection in March 1954). Ex: Palace Collections of Egypt [King Farouk] (Sotheby's - 3/1954) Lot # 2173 (part of). Ex: Virgil M. Brand Collection (as "Ferrari-Brand," Schulman - ca. 1932) #3003. Ex: Baron Phillipe de Ferrari la Renotière Collection."

A few were struck in silver.
