The first specimen was lot 43167 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE. Constitution. Copper 2 Sols Token Essai (Pattern), "Year 1/1792" (1793). Birmingham (Soho) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-65. Lettered edge. By A. Dupré possibly for the Monneron Brothers. An exceptional specimen striking, this bronzed pattern displays rich brown surfaces, immense brilliance, and elegant crispness throughout. As such, a VERY RARE and enchanting offering. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Format [Birmingham] at COINEX in London on 24 September 1992). Purportedly sold to Samuel Birchall, 1 July 1793."

The second specimen was lot 43170 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $4,560. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE. Constitution. Gilt Bronze 2 Sols Token, "Year 1/1792" (1793). Birmingham (Soho) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63. Plain edge. By A. Dupré possibly for the Monneron Brothers. A phenomenal example, this specimen presents rich brilliance and a great glossy nature, all while vibrant gilt hues dominate throughout. A RARE and highly impressive piece. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from A. H. Baldwin in London, September 1961)."

The third specimen was lot 43172 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE. Constitution. Silver 2 Sols Token, "Year 1/1792" (1793). Birmingham (Soho) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-62. Plain edge. By A. Dupré possibly for the Monneron Brothers. Already an EXTREMELY RARE offering in silver, Margolis notes his astonishment with the present example, in that "...it was a considerable surprise when this example was acquired to realize that it had been struck from the "normal" obverse and reverse dies, unlike the two examples with lettered edges previously seen, which were struck from the "special" dies." From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Patrick Guillard on 6 January 2001)."

The SCWC states that all known examples are restrikes from the 1850's or later.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: bronze, the first specimen 15.55 g, the second specimen 11.94 g, the third specimen 18.83 g.
