This specimen was lot 71052 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Constitution. 1/2 Ecu, 1792-T/Year 4. Nantes Mint. Louis XVI. PCGS VF-35. Second semester. A RARE and fairly difficult issue, this toned and circulated minor stands as the only such representative of the type in the PCGS census. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from New Netherlands in 1972 for $125). Ex: New Netherlands (4/1972) Lot # 283." This specimen is one of a type struck 1792-93 during the early stages of the French Revolution before the trial and execution of the king. It is the scarcest of the denominations issued during the "Constitutional" period of 1791-93. Several mints participated in this issue but Paris is the only one not very rare.
