Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 71106
SB626-71106r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71106 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $244. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Constitution. Silver 5 Sols Token, Year 4/1792. Paris Mint. PCGS MS-62. Lefevre, Lesage & Cie. Quite attractively toned, with a delightful gunmetal gray nature pairing with pastel hues and alluring brilliance. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Randolph Zander in 1956 for $1.25)." Lefèvre, Lesage & Cie seem to have been competitors to the better known Monneron Freres. They had struck silver five, ten and twenty sol tokens which, if exchangeable for écus, as they likely were, would have been worth 1/24, 1/12 and 1/6 écu. A variety of the five sols (KM Tn16) has a small "5" in the denomination instead of the large "5" shown here.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.75 g, 0.694 fine silver, 17 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Maz-137, KM Tn15.
