This specimen was lot 43104 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE. Constitution. Silver 10 Sols Token, Year 4/1792. Paris (Lefèvre, Lesage & Cie) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63. Plain edge. Clearly struck with refined precision and exceptional sharpness, this specimen issue radiates with a steely gray hue and an abundance of luster throughout. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Portobello Road in London on 3 December 1966)."

Lefèvre, Lesage & Cie seem to have been competitors to the better known Monneron Freres. They had struck silver ten and twenty sol tokens which, if exchangeable for écus, as they likely were, would have been worth 1/12 and 1/6 écu. A variety of the ten sols (KM Tn18) exists with a standing liberty instead of the seated figure shown here.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 1.65 g.

Catalog reference: KM Tn19, Maz-136 (R1).
