SB626-71076r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71076 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $89. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Constitution. 6 Deniers, Year 4/1792-I. Limoges Mint. Louis XVI. VERY FINE. Pale brown in hue, with even wear across the higher points. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Boutin in 1956 for 45¢). Ex: Serge Boutin FPL 88 (2/1956) Lot # 244." This uncommon type was struck 1792-93 from five mints (D, I, MA, K, T). The product of the Strasbourg mint is consdered a separate type (Gad-7) because Louis is shown as the "ROI FRANÇAIS" instead of the "ROI FRANÇOIS" shown here. Gadoury notes that some dies lack the proper cedilla in "Ç" but we can't tell if that happened here.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.11 g, bronze or brass, 26 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-610.2; Gad-8.
