The catalog description^[1] noted, "FRANCE. Constitution. Septet of 30 Sols (7 Pieces), Year 4/1792. Louis XVI. Grade Range: FINE to EXTREMELY FINE Details. 1) Paris, 10.08 g. Second semester. EXTREMELY FINE. Cleaned. 2) Metz. FINE. Cleaned. 3) Rouen. EXTREMELY FINE. Cleaned. 4) La Rochelle. VERY FINE. Scratched. 5) Bordeaux. FINE. Scratched. 6) Marseille, 9.99 g. VERY FINE. Scratched. 7) Perpignan, 9.84 g. FINE. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Richard Margolis Collection." This specimen is one of a type struck 1791-93 at Bordeaux during the early stages of the French Revolution before the trial and execution of the king. It was theoretically worth one quarter écu but as it was only 0.666 fine, it probably traded for less. Only the 1792-A (Paris) and 1792-I (Limoges) are common.
