Künker sale 353, lot 3794

This specimen was lot 3794 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €260 (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/48 Taler 1763, G, Schwerin und Rethwisch. Prägung während des Siebenjährigen Krieges. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Schulten + Co. Köln, Oktober 1986, Nr. 3109. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/48 thaler of 1763, Schwerin and Rethwisch, struck during the Seven Years War. Extremely rare, very fine.)"

This type was struck 1753, 1756, 1760 and 1763. The year 1763 marks the first year of peace after the near-disastrous Seven Years' War.
